Stage One: Inter County Squash Championship 2011-2012

The Boys U17 Inter county fixture was held at Leicester Squash Club on the 23rd October 2011. The counties involved were Leicestershire , Derbyshire , Northamptonshire and Worcestershire.

In the first match Leicestershire played Worcestershire , unfortunately they only had four players due to injury so Leicestershire had a good start to the match. With good wins from Luke Parker, George Morgan and James Payne gave us the match quite comfortably with a 4: 1 win with Tim Arthur just missing out by losing  3:2.

The second match with Derbyshire (who were favourites) was really hard for the players and we were beaten 3:2 but there were good wins from Luke Parker (who beat a Nationally ranked player seeded at 11 in the ranking list) and James Payne who had moved up from Under 15 to play and played exceptionally well to beat his opponent by 3:2.

In the last game against Northamptonshire  we were playing for the runners up spot .The winners and runners up would be promoted for Stage two so it was vitally important that we gained as many games as possibly as we were only 7 points ahead of Northamptonshire. With good wins from Luke Parker and George Orton who had moved up from the Under 15 to play and played very well to beat his opponent by 3:2. This left the match all square with Tim Arthur to play. Leicestershire only required two points to gain the runners up spot  but with good play by Tim and putting pressure on his opponent did not let him get the better of him and came away with winning the match 3:1.

I would just like to say a thank you to all the players who played very well and gave 100% whether they won or lost .
